Position Overview

Join our mission to create a climate-just future in Kenya. As the National Coordinator for the Kenya Platform on Climate Governance (KPCG), you’ll play a crucial role in advancing climate justice, ensuring environmental and climate equity for all. PACJA is a consortium of over 1000 organizations across 51 African countries, working to address the urgent climate crisis with a people-centered, rights-based approach.

Key Responsibilities

Project Implementation

  • Collaborate with KPCG members and regional coordinators to ensure integrity in all platform operations.
  • Implement efficient monitoring mechanisms and reporting systems.
  • Provide support for project planning and control.
  • Ensure accountability and compliance through timely reporting.

Facilitation and Coordination

  • Work with government partners and stakeholders to build a coherent strategy.
  • Promote advocacy and policy priorities within the platform.
  • Create partnerships with relevant stakeholders at the national level.
  • Promote the work of the National Platform.

Thought Leadership

  • Facilitate activities, needs assessments, and advocacy for a coherent strategy in climate justice.
  • Create partnerships and linkages with the government for sustainable development.
  • Design coordination mechanisms and conflict resolution protocols.
  • Promote the work of the National Platform.

Representation, Advocacy, and Coordination

  • Ensure community voices are heard in projects and advocacy.
  • Act as a liaison between the platform and stakeholders, including government and the private sector.
  • Participate in relevant national and international dialogue engagements.
  • Advocate, educate, and foster consensus on effective two-way interaction on climate justice issues.
  • Facilitate needs assessments and analysis related to KPCG coordination.
  • Establish synergy between KPCG and other partners in the climate change space.

  • Collaborate with members to create innovative initiatives on the platform.

Required Competencies

  • Agile and strategic thinker with goal-setting abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of French is a plus.
  • Innovative and tech-savvy with a strong knowledge of project technology.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Academic education in Project Management, Environmental Policy, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in project management, especially in intermediary organizations.
  • A minimum of five years of experience working with CSOs in diverse environments.
  • Ability to build relations with stakeholders at local, national, continental, and global levels.
