National Community Mobilization Coordinator – KENPHIA II
Job Summary
As the National Community Mobilization Coordinator for KENPHIA II based in Nairobi, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating all aspects of demand creation and community mobilization within selected communities and counties. Working closely with multi-sectorial stakeholders at national, county, and community levels, you’ll lead efforts to promote awareness, trust, and participation in the survey. Your responsibilities will include supporting the implementation of community engagement strategies, monitoring community awareness and participation, and ensuring the safety and security of participants. Reporting to the Senior Technical Advisor, you’ll collaborate to ensure effective implementation of mobilization strategies across the board.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Stakeholder Engagement: Identify and engage stakeholders, opinion leaders, and community gatekeepers, leading community mobilization efforts at various levels.
- Community Understanding: Gain in-depth knowledge of community structures to design effective mobilization strategies leveraging these structures.
- Personnel Recruitment: Collaborate with key stakeholders to recruit community mobilization personnel at county and sub-county levels.
- Strategic Planning: Work closely with the Senior Technical Advisor to integrate real-time demands for community sensitization into micro plans.
- Content Development: Provide guidance for developing culturally sensitive content and mobilization products to encourage survey participation.
- Partnership Building: Partner with networks of people living with HIV, civil service organizations, and other entities to ensure active participation in the survey.
- Advocacy: Advocate for the project with governmental and community leaders, ensuring community acceptance of survey activities.
- Logistics and Support: Coordinate the recruitment and support of community mobilizers, ensuring efficient completion of demand generation assignments.
- Team Management: Foster good working relationships between community mobilization teams and field implementation teams, providing constructive feedback and oversight.

- Master’s degree in Social Sciences with 5 – 10 years’ experience in similar roles on field surveys in LMIC.
- Extensive experience in implementing Community-Based Programs and developing community mobilization strategies.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and crisis communication skills.
- Self-starter with strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with cultural sensitivity.
- Willingness to travel and work weekends/public holidays during the survey period.
