Title: Monitoring, Evaluation, and Communication Intern

Reporting to: Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting Lead

Location: Nairobi, Kenya


1. Introduction

The Oslo Center, established in 2006, is a prominent democratic support organization committed to advancing democratic systems that respond to citizens’ needs, respect meaningful participation, and uphold human rights and dignity. Our collaborative approach, involving local partners, aims to enhance democratic practices by strengthening governance, political institutions, and civic spaces. In Kenya, The Oslo Center focuses on promoting democracy by offering technical expertise to various democratic institutions, including political parties, parliament, and regulatory bodies.


2. Background

We are currently seeking a dedicated Monitoring, Evaluation, and Communication Intern to join our team in Nairobi. This role is vital in supporting our mission and contributing to the overall success of our projects and programs.


3. Main Responsibilities

Monitoring and Evaluation Support:

  • Assist in the monitoring, inspection, and evaluation of procedures.
  • Provide evaluation feedback on project and program designs.
  • Support the implementation of TOC’s M&E strategy.
  • Assist in proposal development and design stages, setting up performance management frameworks and defined indicators to support project objectives and goals.
  • Manage TOC’s database system for monitoring and evaluation, generating periodic reports to guide program decisions.
  • Help develop and update project Work Plans in accordance with project activities and timeframes.
  • Support programmatic reporting to ensure evidence-based findings linked to impact, change, and learning.

Communication Support:

  • Assist in implementing TOC’s communication and visibility plan.
  • Manage and update the organization’s social media platforms.
  • Create engaging and informative content for social media, including graphics and videos.
  • Engage with followers and respond to comments and messages promptly.
  • Develop and implement social media campaigns to raise awareness about TOC’s projects and initiatives.
  • Analyze social media metrics and prepare reports on the performance of social media campaigns.

4. Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field such as Monitoring and Evaluation, Communication, Development Studies, Project Management, Operational Research, Statistics, or Mathematics.
  • Demonstrated ability in data analysis or visualization tools, project design, and M&E of development activities.
  • Proficiency in social media management.
  • Experience in developing performance management plans, results frameworks, and logical frameworks.
  • Knowledge and experience in monitoring and evaluating programs, including indicator development, study design, and data analysis in multiple sectors.
  • Proficiency in using computers and office software packages.
  • Experience applying qualitative/participatory research methods, linking planning to M&E, and results-based approaches.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
