About Us
The African Institute for Health and Development (AIHD) is a distinguished non-profit, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established in June 2004 in Nairobi, Kenya. Founded by a consortium of accomplished African researchers and academicians, AIHD focuses on implementing evidence-based programs and conducting research, training, and advocacy on health and development issues pertinent to Kenya and the broader African continent. Collaborating closely with National and County Governments in Kenya, AIHD works with local, national, regional, and international partners to address key development challenges such as poverty alleviation, gender mainstreaming, health promotion, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), and social protection.

Job Summary
AIHD seeks to recruit an intern to bolster the Monitoring and Evaluation Department. The M&E Intern will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing M&E activities for projects and programs. Responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports, ensuring regular monitoring of project activities, uploading project data on corporate databases, and aiding in the collection and analysis of project-related data.

Responsibilities

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Participate in developing and implementing program results based on the M&E plan to generate regular information on program progress.
  • Assist in designing data collection tools, templates, and contribute to the data collection process.

Project Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Track project outputs and outcomes in coordination with the project team.
  • Review and compile monitoring reports, project progress reports, evaluation reports, and other related documentation.
  • Assist in providing technical support to staff members for M&E activities, including training on M&E concepts and tools.

Knowledge Management and Documentation:

  • Support the documentation of lessons learned from evaluations in corporate databases.
  • Review field-level assessment reports, baseline studies, and evaluation reports.

Data Collection and Analysis:

  • Participate in data collection and analysis to assess progress achieved.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, demographics, social sciences, economics, monitoring and evaluation, or related field.
  • Proficiency in evaluation methodologies, statistical packages (e.g., SPSS), and data analysis software.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
