JOB PURPOSE

The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant role at RefuSHE is pivotal in measuring the outputs, outcomes, and impact of RefuSHE’s holistic model. Working closely with the Monitoring & Evaluation Manager, the incumbent will contribute to enhancing organizational M&E systems, facilitating evidence-based decision-making, and driving continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Tool Development and Data Collection:

  • Collaborate with the M&E Manager and program team to develop data collection tools for RefuSHE’s holistic programming.
  • Assist in collecting quantitative and qualitative data through surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions.

2. Data Entry and Analysis:

  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of data into the organization’s monitoring and evaluation system.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data and synthesize findings into well-written reports and presentations.

3. Staff Onboarding and Training:

  • Lead the onboarding of new staff members to RefuSHE’s M&E software, ActivityInfo.
  • Stay updated on newly developed software features and provide ongoing training to staff on ActivityInfo’s functionality.

4. Capacity Building and Reporting:

  • Participate in training sessions and workshops related to monitoring and evaluation best practices.
  • Support the reporting of program data and progress against indicators for all donor reports.

5. M&E Plan Development and Support:

  • Lead the updating of RefuSHE’s M&E plan in collaboration with the M&E Manager.
  • Support the development of program and proposal M&E plans, including SMART indicators and achievable targets.

6. Stakeholder Engagement and Sensitivity:

  • Facilitate greater understanding of M&E among program team staff and provide troubleshooting and advice.
  • Ensure all data collection activities are conducted through a trauma-informed lens, sensitive to the diverse backgrounds of refugee young women and girls.

7. Data Security and Compliance:

  • Ensure confidentiality and security of collected data, compliant with Kenya’s Data Protection Act and RefuSHE’s regulations.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in monitoring and evaluation, development studies, economics, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in English and Kiswahili, both spoken and written.

RELATED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong interest in M&E with volunteer/intern level experience preferred.
  • Competency in MS Office software.
