Main Purpose

As a Medical Doctor, you will apply your medical knowledge and skills to diagnose, prevent, and provide outpatient/inpatient consultations. Your responsibilities include keeping patients and their families informed about illnesses, ensuring proper treatment, and contributing to the evolution of hospitalized patients. Collaboration with other medical professionals, rational distribution of medicines, and compliance with hygiene standards are crucial aspects of this role.

Accountabilities

  • Medical Diagnosis and Prevention:
    • Apply medical knowledge to diagnose and prevent illnesses.
    • Conduct outpatient and inpatient consultations following MSF protocols.
  • Patient Communication:
    • Inform patients and their families about illnesses and treatment plans.
    • Ensure patient understanding and provide necessary explanations.
  • Hospitalized Patient Follow-up:
    • Monitor the evolution of hospitalized patients through daily visits.
    • Prescribe necessary treatments and decide on discharges or transfers.
  • Medicine Distribution and Hygiene:
    • Control distribution of medicines and equipment.
    • Ensure quality, disinfection, and sterilization of medical material.
  • Epidemiological Data Collection:
    • Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data.

Requirements

  • Education: Medical Doctor Degree with a valid License to practice in Kenya.
  • Experience: Essential 2 years’ experience as a Medical Doctor or in clinical work (including internship period). Experience in obstetric and gynecological emergencies, pediatric emergencies, infectious diseases, and minor surgeries is desirable.
  • Languages: Mission language essential (English), local language desirable (Kiswahili, Somali).
  • Knowledge: Essential computer literacy (Word, Excel).
