Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) is thrilled to announce a remarkable career opportunity as an ACCOUNTANT.
Job Location: MYSA Headquarters Nairobi.
Position Type: Full-Time
Reports to: MYSA CEO

Key Qualifications:
- Full understanding of accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks and other software).
- Proactive, reliable, responsible, and keen attention to detail.
- Experience with daily worksheets and general ledger systems; computer proficiency; ability to work collaboratively.
- Proficiency in standard computer applications like Microsoft Office, WordPress, and Excel.
- Understanding of Bank Reconciliations – Must be familiar with key bank reconciliation documents and reconciling items.
- Flexibility, innovation, motivation, and adaptability to change.
- Satisfactory level of technical and professional skills or knowledge in finance and accounting.
Responsibilities: Your Impactful Journey
As an integral part of MYSA, your contributions will play a vital role in our mission. Your responsibilities will include:
- Diligence in Financial Transactions: Exercise diligence in all financial transactions and procedures.
- Accounts Reconciliation: Skillfully reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
- Financial Training: Provide financial and program training and prepare budget forecasts.
- Expenditure Records: Obtain, verify, and maintain records of expenditure and account for any grant funds against budget lines using these records.
- Financial Record Maintenance: Maintain proper books and records to facilitate financial monitoring, program management, program monitoring and evaluation, and audit.
- Expenditure Monitoring: Vigilantly monitor financial expenditure to ensure budget lines are not exceeded and all costs are supported.
- Financial Reporting: Produce and submit accurate and timely financial reports with relevant supporting documentation on a periodic basis as prescribed.
- Donor Relations: Manage the disbursement and/or reimbursement process with donors.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist with tax filings.
- Financial Compliance: Comply with MYSA’s financial policies and regulations.
- Issue Resolution: Liaise and resolve financial issues arising from the review of financial reports and field visits.
Qualifications: Your Path to Success
- Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting or its equivalent through experience or ability.
- CPA Intermediate level.
- MYSA Member status will be an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- A minimum of 2 years of work experience in accounting or finance.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
