Role Overview

The Manager IT Infrastructure will be responsible for overseeing all IT Infrastructure operations. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, with a focus on network infrastructure, server infrastructure, LAN support, data communications, and telecommunications systems. The role holder will work collaboratively with external vendors, system experts, and information security professionals to efficiently resolve hardware and software issues.

Principle Accountabilities

1. Manage Infrastructure Systems (30%)

  • Set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including LAN, WAN, Internet, Intranet, Backups, and related systems.

2. Data Center Operations Oversight (30%)

  • Provide management oversight for Data Center Operations to ensure projects, incidents, problems, service requests, and escalations are handled according to defined policies, processes, procedures, and SLAs.

3. Contract and Budget Management (20%)

  • Manage Datacenter and Network Service Agreements, budgets, and Supplier Contracts.

4. Align ICT Network Strategy (10%)

  • Ensure the effective integration of ICT network strategy or blueprint with the bank’s business direction.

5. Network and Data Center Security (10%)

  • Ensure the effectiveness of the network and data center security system (policy, controls, and infrastructure) to protect against exposure to and impact of risks associated with data loss, corruption, and unauthorized access.

Main Activities

  • Provide support to Local and wide-area network users within multi-service platforms.
  • Monitor the system performance of the core network, routers, and WAN links to ensure optimum efficiency.
  • Regularly review IT infrastructure policies to ensure compliance with guidelines.
  • Plan cost-effective upgrades to keep up with changing technology and the bank’s growth and needs.
  • Build a Network architectural framework applicable throughout the organization.
  • Evaluate and select new Networking technology to support new products and services.
  • Direct and supervise the work of personnel and/or contractors assigned to the department.
  • Develop, maintain, and review SLAs with external vendors.
  • Specify, select, and procure infrastructure hardware and software.
  • Protect and enhance the life of IT assets of the Bank, including hardware maintenance.
  • Manage a team of outsourced support vendors based in head office and regional offices.
  • Coordinate outsourced vendors for PCs, Network equipment, and UPS systems.
  • Work closely with vendors to ensure an up-to-date inventory of the bank’s equipment is maintained.
  • Coordinate with the bank’s Property administration for proper storage and disposal of IT equipment after it is declared obsolete.

Key Competencies and Skills

Technical Competencies

  • Knowledge of Cloud (preferably Azure), Linux/AIX, Unix, CISCO, Microsoft, Server hardware, and Firewall administration.
  • In-depth knowledge of Active Directory (Design, Security, and Administration).
  • In-depth knowledge of Messaging (MS Exchange, Archiving, Unified Communications).
  • Excellent project management skills.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • ITIL Foundation, Microsoft MCSE, Cisco CCNA and CCDA, Huawei HCNA, Azure Certification.
  • Linux certification.

Experience:

  • Six years’ experience in network and server infrastructure support in medium- to large-sized organizations.
  • Working experience in a bank or other financial services organization would be an added advantage.
  • Experience in vendor management is critical.
