Job Summary

HACO Industries, a leading FMCG manufacturer in the East African and COMESA markets, is seeking a Machine Operator to join its dynamic production team. This role is integral to the efficient operation of our injection, blow mold, and IBM machines, ensuring the manufacture of high-quality products. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating machinery, maintaining high production standards, and ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate plastic injection, blow mold, and IBM machines efficiently to meet daily production targets.
  • Ensure that all machines are operating within set Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) to produce high-quality products.
  • Lead the tool change process and set machine parameters for optimal performance.
  • Regularly monitor the quality of products, identifying any product and packaging faults quickly, and take corrective action.
  • Work closely with maintenance technicians to minimize downtime by addressing machine breakdowns swiftly.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance teams to ensure that there are zero defects in production.
  • Modify machine settings to enhance production efficiency and output.
  • Perform basic Autonomous Maintenance (AM) on machinery.
  • Ensure that any waste produced is segregated and disposed of correctly, in line with waste management policies.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized workspace, ensuring that all machinery is thoroughly cleaned as per the set SOPs.
  • Adhere strictly to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Quality Management Systems (QMS) regulations.
  • Keep the work area tidy and organized, performing closing duties after every shift.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings to stay informed of any updates and reinforce safety measures in the workplace.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum Qualifications: Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Education Requirement: KCSE certificate with a minimum of D+.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in operating Injection Blow Molding (IBM) machines, specifically in the FMCG industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
  • A firm advocate for Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practices in the workplace.

Preferred Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of machine operation and maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience in Autonomous Maintenance (AM).
  • Familiarity with GMP, EHS, and QMS regulations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including maintenance technicians and quality assurance personnel.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and rectify machine faults quickly to prevent production delays.
