Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Logistics Specialist to join the dynamic team at SoCha, supporting the USAID/Kenya and East Africa (KEA) programs through the USAID/KEA Localization, Inclusion, and Sustainability (LISA) Activity. This role is essential in enhancing efficiency, effectiveness, transparency, and inclusivity within the organization, while advancing development outcomes in Kenya. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting logistics for project activities, ensuring smooth, cost-effective operations while collaborating with various teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee logistics activities for the LISA activity, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Plan and support all logistics for program activities, including organizing transportation, venues, and required supplies.
  • Maintain and update the LISA calendar of activities to ensure efficient planning and execution of all programs.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to draft contracts with vendors, ensuring that all logistics requirements are met with high standards.
  • Develop strategies to streamline processes, reduce costs, and ensure efficiency in logistical operations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant procedures related to procurement and travel, maintaining high operational standards.
  • Foster relationships with vendors, ensuring compliance with contracts and service agreements.
  • Manage logistics budgets and contribute to financial planning by providing accurate data on logistics costs.
  • Support in procurement activities, ensuring compliance with relevant procedures, and monitoring adherence to procurement regulations.
  • Coordinate with drivers, venues, and suppliers to guarantee the smooth delivery of goods and services for various program activities.
  • Other responsibilities, as directed by the Finance and Administration Director, to ensure the success of the program’s logistical operations.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, the Logistics Specialist should have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, Economics, Procurement, or any related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a similar logistics role, preferably within a non-profit or international development organization.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to generate reports and presentations as needed.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and Kiswahili, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills to handle challenges in logistics and procurement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, while maintaining high performance standards.
  • Knowledge of USAID activities and requirements, with a deep understanding of procurement and logistics in non-profit settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, service providers, and internal teams.

Location

The Logistics Specialist will be based in Nairobi, with occasional travel within Kenya. This location offers the opportunity to work closely with both local and international stakeholders, contributing to the success of USAID programs in Kenya and East Africa.
