Job Summary

The Legal Officer will be responsible for overseeing the company’s legal framework, managing risk, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic environments and are passionate about upholding corporate governance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting legal documentation: Prepare and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and other corporate materials, ensuring they comply with Kenyan law and internal policies.
  • Overseeing client matters: Offer legal advice to both internal stakeholders and clients on various legal matters related to the ICT sector.
  • Providing risk management advice: Identify and mitigate potential legal risks that could impact the company’s operations.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies: Ensure the company’s compliance with relevant Kenyan and international regulations governing the ICT sector.
  • Assisting in corporate governance: Support the company’s corporate governance framework, ensuring that all processes are legally sound and transparent.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized university.
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate.
  • In-depth knowledge of Kenyan corporate law and ICT regulations.
  • Proven experience in risk management and corporate governance.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in the ICT sector or a related industry.
  • Familiarity with regulatory bodies such as the Communications Authority of Kenya.
  • Postgraduate legal qualifications in ICT or corporate law.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record of managing high-level corporate transactions.
