We are seeking a Legal Counsel – Litigation to join our team and manage a portfolio of dispute resolution cases while providing invaluable legal advisory to our Retail network. Key Responsibilities:

1. Expert Litigation Management

• Conduct comprehensive legal research to build strong cases.
• Organize and compile evidence for pre-trial and hearings.
• Prepare witnesses to testify effectively.
• Develop concept papers, legal briefs, and opinions.
• Craft robust defense strategies, arguments, and testimony in collaboration with external lawyers.

2. Performance Oversight

• Monitor and evaluate the performance of external lawyers to ensure efficiency in our legal operations.

3. Proactive Legal Guidance

• Promote legal awareness within the organization.
• Provide expert advice to avert or minimize potential litigation.
• Scrutinize legal fees to ensure compliance with Remuneration Order and Service Level Agreement.

4. Data Management

• Maintain an updated database of non-debt recovery litigation cases.
• Generate necessary reports as required.

5. Retail Branch Support

• Offer legal guidance to our Retail branches on bank policies, processes, and procedures.
• Ensure legal and reputational risks are minimized through proactive support.

6. Miscellaneous Tasks

• Be ready to tackle any other tasks as assigned because at KCB Group, versatility is key.

The Ideal Candidate:

As a prospective Legal Counsel – Litigation at KCB Group, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

• A Degree in Law (LLB).
• Diploma in Law.
• Advocate of the High Court.
• A minimum of 4 years of post-admission experience.
• Proficiency in legal drafting, corporate and commercial law, dispute resolution, and legal risk management.
• Exceptional communication and advocacy skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
