Legal Counsel – Litigation at KCB Group: Protecting Our Bank’s Interests

We are seeking a Legal Counsel – Litigation to join our team and manage a portfolio of dispute resolution cases while providing invaluable legal advisory to our Retail network. Key Responsibilities:
1. Expert Litigation Management
- Conduct comprehensive legal research to build strong cases.
- Organize and compile evidence for pre-trial and hearings.
- Prepare witnesses to testify effectively.
- Develop concept papers, legal briefs, and opinions.
- Craft robust defense strategies, arguments, and testimony in collaboration with external lawyers.
2. Performance Oversight
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of external lawyers to ensure efficiency in our legal operations.
3. Proactive Legal Guidance
- Promote legal awareness within the organization.
- Provide expert advice to avert or minimize potential litigation.
- Scrutinize legal fees to ensure compliance with Remuneration Order and Service Level Agreement.
4. Data Management
- Maintain an updated database of non-debt recovery litigation cases.
- Generate necessary reports as required.
5. Retail Branch Support
- Offer legal guidance to our Retail branches on bank policies, processes, and procedures.
- Ensure legal and reputational risks are minimized through proactive support.
6. Miscellaneous Tasks
- Be ready to tackle any other tasks as assigned because at KCB Group, versatility is key.
The Ideal Candidate:
As a prospective Legal Counsel – Litigation at KCB Group, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A Degree in Law (LLB).
- Diploma in Law.
- Advocate of the High Court.
- A minimum of 4 years of post-admission experience.
- Proficiency in legal drafting, corporate and commercial law, dispute resolution, and legal risk management.
- Exceptional communication and advocacy skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
