Learning Community Experience Specialist – Nairobi, Kenya (Remote)
We are seeking a Learning Community Experience Specialist with seven or more years of experience in program or operations management to join our team. About the Kenya Country Team
Our Kenya team manages one of the largest learner and alumni communities at ALX, with a focus on the Nairobi Metropolitan Area. However, our learners and alumni span all cities in Kenya. We are dedicated to ensuring that learners have an exceptional experience that leads to high graduation rates and overall satisfaction.
About the Role
As a Learning Community Experience Specialist, you will lead a team focused on ensuring learners have a high-quality experience at scale, resulting in high graduation rates. You will be responsible for managing a team that includes an associate, two analysts, and a group of learner ambassadors. You’ll play a crucial role in shaping strategies for learner engagement and retention.
The ideal candidate for this position should have leadership skills, operational excellence, and experience in community management. They must also be highly skilled in data analysis, team building, and strategic program management. Furthermore, a proactive mindset, customer focus, and the ability to adapt to evolving business environments are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Program Management
- Strategic Management: Develop and implement strategies to improve learner outcomes. Work closely with junior team members to ensure program alignment.
- Program Expertise: Maintain a deep understanding of all programs offered, including structure and content, to ensure team members are aligned with program requirements.
- Problem Solving: Take a proactive approach to problem-solving, addressing issues before they escalate. Act independently and make decisions to enhance the learner experience.
Learner Engagement
- Learner Engagement Strategies: Design activities that promote learner engagement, retention, and participation in community-building events.
- Event Planning: Coordinate high-quality in-person events that align with program content and foster a sense of community among learners.
Continuous Improvement and Feedback
- Program Assessment: Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of program delivery and implement necessary improvements.
- User-Centric Approach: Prioritize the needs and experiences of learners when designing initiatives.
- Feedback Loop: Gather and provide feedback to the learning team, ensuring that program enhancements are continuously made.
High-Quality Support
- Resource Development: Create and update support resources such as FAQs, guides, and training materials.
- Support Excellence: Respond promptly and professionally to learner queries and manage escalations as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of learner interactions to inform ongoing improvement efforts.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Dashboard Creation: Develop comprehensive dashboards that provide insights into operational metrics such as learner engagement and graduation rates.
- Analytical Reporting: Prepare detailed reports for the Country General Manager, using data-driven insights to improve operational performance.
- Data Gathering: Conduct research and gather data to support decision-making processes.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Internal Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align strategies and goals across departments.
- External Partner Coordination: Manage relationships with external partners and ensure seamless communication.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Management, Education, Training and Development, Systems Thinking, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present ideas and engage stakeholders.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong organizational and relationship-building abilities, with experience maintaining engagement with stakeholders.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, with strong project management skills from concept to completion.
- Collaboration: Experience working with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS), Google Suite, Asana, Slack, and Zoom.
- Data-Driven: Experience using data to drive learner engagement improvements.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a dynamic business environment and manage remote teams across multiple time zones.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Learner Graduation Rate: Achieve and maintain a high graduation rate among learners.
- Learner Retention Rate: Implement strategies to maintain a high retention rate.
- Learner Engagement Rate: Drive engagement and ensure learners actively participate in programs and events.
