Key Responsibilities

As a Laundry Attendant, you will undertake a variety of responsibilities to ensure that the laundry and dormitories of the students are clean, functional, and conducive to learning and living.

Daily Laundry Management

• Manage day-to-day laundry tasks, including washing students’ clothes and shoes.
• Clean, dry, press, and fold students’ laundry while ensuring each item is returned to its rightful owner.

Dormitory Maintenance

• Change linen regularly and ensure all mosquito nets are clean and in excellent condition.
• Keep dormitory rooms clean, safe, and hygienic for students’ comfort and health.
• Ensure the laundry area and dormitories are neat, tidy, and well-maintained at all times.

Safety and Maintenance

• Inspect rooms and report any maintenance issues to the supervisor promptly.
• Follow all infection control precautions and adhere to laid-down cleaning procedures.

Inventory Management

• Help return items of bedding and linen to the linen store as required.
• Keep accurate records of laundered items to maintain order and accountability.

Qualifications and Skills

To thrive in this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

• O-Level / GCSE certificate or equivalent.

Essential Skills

• Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
• Knowledge of housekeeping procedures and the ability to handle cleaning equipment effectively.
• Physical fitness to perform job duties.
• Strong sense of time management to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Preferred Knowledge

• Familiarity with cleaning different surfaces and best practices for maintaining them.
