Key Responsibilities:

As the Laboratory In-Charge, you will:

  • Ensure Quality Assurance: Oversee the generation of accurate test results and uphold stringent quality standards.
  • Supervise Laboratory Staff: Lead, mentor, and monitor performance within the laboratory unit.
  • Adhere to SOPs: Maintain compliance with standard operating procedures in all laboratory functions.
  • Sample Processing: Manage the registration, collection, and processing of client samples within the specified test limits.
  • Result Communication: Deliver timely and accurate laboratory results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain Laboratory Standards: Ensure proper use of reagents, equipment calibration, and cleanliness for optimal functionality.
  • Prepare Reports: Generate detailed laboratory reports for decision-making and operational improvement.
  • Quality Control: Participate actively in internal quality control programs to ensure operational excellence.

Qualifications and Skills:

To excel in this role, you must have:

  1. Educational Background:
    • A Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science (essential).
    • A Degree/Masters in Medical Laboratory Science (advantageous).
  2. Experience: At least two (2) years in managing laboratory staff and operations.
  3. Professional Certification: Registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician and Technologist Board.
  4. Key Skills:
    • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
    • Keen attention to detail and the ability to uphold integrity and confidentiality.
    • Self-motivation and a strong team-player ethos.
    • Research experience is an added advantage.
