THE ROLE

Amref Health Africa is on the hunt for a dynamic, organized, and self-motivated individual to join our Institute of Capacity Development (ICD) team as a Knowledge Management (KM) Officer. In this role, you will steer the next phase of knowledge management initiatives. The Knowledge Management Officer will play a pivotal role in delivering technical expertise, shaping the application of knowledge management methodologies, and devising innovative strategies to capture, interpret, and disseminate technical insights in the East Africa Region. You’ll become an integral part of our Knowledge SUCCESS Project team, focused on disseminating Family Planning/Reproductive Health (FP/RH) technical insights in the East Africa Region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Knowledge Management

  • Needs Assessment and Strategy Development: Conduct thorough needs assessments and craft effective knowledge management strategies.
  • Regional Expertise: Demonstrate expertise in implementing KM strategies within the African region.
  • Capacity Building: Facilitate tailored knowledge management capacity strengthening interventions, including workshops and webinars, in virtual and physical settings for our partners and stakeholders.
  • Content Creation: Generate audience-responsive, technically relevant, practical, and user-friendly content.
  • Promoting Best Practices: Champion knowledge management standards and best practices.
  • Innovation Integration: Integrate innovative Knowledge Management tools and techniques into existing platforms.

Partner Engagement

  • Needs Identification: Engage partners in identifying their specific knowledge management needs and challenges, fostering open discussions to jointly determine priorities and align knowledge management strategies with partner objectives.
  • Relationship Management: Devise and execute effective relationship management and engagement strategies to encourage active participation and knowledge sharing among partners, creating a supportive learning environment.
  • Cross-Organizational Collaboration: Facilitate discussions on KM standards, best practices, and innovative approaches, promoting cross-organizational learning and collaboration.

Coordination and Administration

  • Documentation: Manage documentations and reporting, including activity plans, progress reports, and presentations.
  • Resource Coordination: Coordinate KM resources such as online courses and content, and gather feedback for continuous user experience improvement.
  • Meeting and Event Coordination: Coordinate both online and in-person meetings and events, handling logistics, scheduling, and ensuring successful delivery.

  • Effective Communication: You possess outstanding communication skills and can create compelling materials tailored to your audience.
  • Experience: With over five (5) years of experience in relevant programs of national and/or regional nature, you’ve demonstrated progressive responsibility.
  • Relationship Management: You have a proven playbook for relationship management within the East Africa region.
  • Digital Proficiency: Proficiency in data, information, and document management, and experience with knowledge dissemination platforms.
  • Collaborative Nature: You enjoy collaboration and can effectively interact with diverse people at all levels and across cultures.
  • Problem-Solving: You have a “can-do” attitude, excel at solving problems, and are accountable.
