About the Role: Data Analyst

Are you passionate about transforming raw data into actionable insights? As a Data Analyst at Kisumu Water and Sanitation Company Limited, you will play a crucial role in gathering, analyzing, and presenting data to inform strategic decision-making. Your responsibilities will include data collection, updates, and in-depth analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and anomalies for insightful reporting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with Department Heads

  • Work closely with Heads of Commercial, Technical Services, and Non-Revenue Water departments to gather and organize relevant data as required.

2. Translate Business Requirements

  • Partner with the management team to understand business needs and translate them into actionable analytics projects and initiatives.

3. Data Quality Assurance

  • Review reports and performance indicators to identify and rectify reporting discrepancies, ensuring data accuracy.

4. Pattern Recognition

  • Utilize statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret complex data patterns and trends.

5. Stay Informed

  • Stay updated on local, national, and global trends affecting both the organization and the industry.

6. Inform Decision-Making

  • Create informative reports for management, presenting trends, patterns, and predictions derived from relevant data.

7. Build Data Pipelines

  • Develop robust data pipelines using graphical ETL/ELT tools like Dataform, Talend, or Dbt.

8. Data Management

  • Ensure accurate and timely collection, analysis, and central storage of Non-Revenue Water-related data, readily accessible to key departments.

9. Data Governance

  • Uphold data accuracy, integrity, and security by implementing best practices and data governance policies in collaboration with the ICT Manager.

Key Qualifications and Competencies

– Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in Data Science, Statistics, or a related field. – Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in data management and analysis. – Analytical Tools: Proficiency in computer analysis tools (Excel VB and R-Studio), and/or AI-Based Data analytics. – ERP Knowledge: Familiarity with ERP and workflow management systems. – Big Data: Experience with managing and analyzing “Big Data,” including data harvesting and analysis. – Data Processing: Proficiency in data processing techniques, including mining, cleaning, modeling, analysis, and visualization. – Critical Thinking: Strong critical thinking skills with a methodical and logical approach. – Time Management: Ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines. – Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. – Communication: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. – Ethical Data Practices: An understanding of the ethics of gathering and working with data.
