About Kenya Ports Authority (KPA)

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), under the Ministry of Roads and Transport, is a distinguished State Corporation established by an Act of Parliament in January 1978. KPA is entrusted with the management and operation of all scheduled seaports and inland waterway ports in Kenya. Our responsibilities encompass the Port of Mombasa, Port of Lamu, scheduled seaports including Malindi, Kilifi, Mtwapa, Kiunga, Shimoni, Vanga, Ngomeni, and Kiunga, as well as the inland waterways, including Kisumu Port and other inland jetties like Kendu Bay, Kowuor, Homa Bay, Mbita, Karungu, Muhuru, Mfangano, Asembo Bay, Usenge, and Port Victoria. Additionally, we oversee Inland Container Depots in Nairobi, Naivasha, and Kisumu, along with liaison offices in Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, serving transit countries.

Internship/Apprenticeship Opportunities

The Kenya Ports Authority is delighted to announce 150 internship/apprenticeship vacancies across various departments. Our internship/apprenticeship program aims to provide young adults with invaluable hands-on experience and exposure to a real workplace environment. These opportunities are available for a maximum period of one year (12 months) effective from January 2024.

Eligibility Criteria To qualify for these opportunities, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a Kenyan citizen not exceeding 34 years of age.
  2. Be an unemployed graduate from a recognized training institution who has completed a degree/diploma/certificate course and has not gained any work experience related to their area of study since graduation.
  3. Not have previously benefited from a similar internship program.
  4. Not have retired or exited from formal employment.
