Job Purpose

As the IT Systems Administrator at Claudinse Consortium, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and administrative functions of the school. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain, upgrade, and manage the school’s software, hardware, and networks, ensuring seamless operations that support both students and staff.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

General Duties

  • Maintain and Administer IT Infrastructure: Ensure the smooth operation of computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, system software, application software, and all configurations.
  • System Upgrades and Installations: Upgrade, install, and configure both hardware and software, optimizing performance and ensuring system reliability.
  • Recommend System Improvements: Proactively suggest changes to improve system and network configurations and determine hardware or software needs for future enhancements.

Academic Support

  • Tech Support for Events: Provide technical support during physical Teacher-Parents’ Day and other school events, ensuring all tech requirements are met.
  • Facilitate Online Meetings: Manage online platforms for Teacher-Parents’ meetings held termly or as needed, ensuring seamless virtual interactions.
  • Support Academic Teams: Assist academic teams with technical needs for events, including managing microphones, PA systems, and other relevant equipment.

Learning Programs Support

  • Support Technology-Aided Lessons: Assist teachers in conducting technology-aided lessons, ensuring all necessary equipment and software are operational.
  • Coordinate Tech-Related Clubs: Lead or coordinate computer-based clubs and tech-related activities, such as Coding & Innovation Clubs or HTML/CSS sessions.
  • Manage Online Testing Platforms: Oversee the setup and management of the school’s online testing platforms, ensuring they are ready for use during assessments.

Inventory and Record Keeping

  • Asset Management: Manage the check-in and check-out process for all student and staff laptops, maintaining up-to-date inventory records of IT assets.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of tech assets assigned to staff, ensuring safe storage and proper documentation.

Tech Maintenance and Troubleshooting

  • Technical Support: Provide timely troubleshooting and technical assistance for hardware, software, and network-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Routine Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance checks on all centrally used tech resources, including laptops, projectors, tablets, and extension cables, ensuring they are in perfect working condition.
  • Classroom Setup: Ensure all classrooms are equipped with functional projectors, speakers, and HDMI cables, addressing any issues promptly.
  • Internet and Printer Support: Troubleshoot internet issues, printers, classroom projectors, speakers, and other tech-related problems, keeping affected stakeholders informed.

Training and Development

  • Evaluate Employee Proficiency: Assess employee proficiency in relevant applications and coordinate training programs to close identified skill gaps.
  • Enhance Productivity: Foster a tech-savvy workforce by enhancing employees’ understanding and use of technology in their roles.

Backup, Recovery, and Security

  • Data Backup: Conduct daily data backups and recovery operations to ensure data security and availability.
  • Security Monitoring: Perform regular security tests and monitoring to safeguard the school’s IT infrastructure from potential threats.

Job Specifications

This role is critical in ensuring that the technical requirements of Claudinse Consortium are met efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an end-user support role.
  • Certifications: Systems administration certifications (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft SQL databases administration) are highly desirable.
  • Experience in an Educational Setting: Previous experience working in a school environment is highly desirable.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in stressful situations.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and a meticulous approach to asset management and record-keeping.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical users.
