Role Overview As the first Internal Auditor at KOKO Kenya, you will lead the department, responsible for establishing best practices and building the Internal Audit function across all core lines of business. This pivotal role comes at a time of significant growth for the company’s operations. We are seeking a highly experienced and diligent auditor with a strong curiosity about business operations, capable of conducting independent reviews through effective communication and keen observational skills.
Responsibilities
- Audit Projects Preparation and Execution
- Conduct audit projects to investigate specific areas of the business as directed by the Audit Committee and Senior Management.
- Each project will involve 1-3 weeks of discovery to provide a comprehensive assessment of the targeted business area.
- Prepare and present audit reports to the Audit Committee, which will also be utilized for operational purposes.
- Follow-Up Audits and Risk Reduction
- Perform follow-up audits to monitor the effectiveness of management’s interventions.
- Deliver insights focused on identifying and mitigating risks, highlighting best practices, and recommending changes to enhance business value.
- Diverse Areas of Focus
- Examine various aspects of the business, including Operations, Sales, Finance, and others.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of business processes to identify key process risks and internal controls.
- Knowledge Management and Continuous Improvement
- Promote knowledge management and shared learning to foster continuous improvement of internal controls.
- Stay up-to-date with trends in Internal Auditing to apply relevant insights to audit activities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Hands-on experience as an internal or external auditor, preferably with a major audit firm in Kenya.
- BSc/BA level education in any subject.
- Possession of a professional certificate (ACCA/CPA/CFA).
- 5-8 years of proven work experience in audit-related positions.
- Strong overall business acumen, aligning governance, risk, and control needs with the work environment’s realities.
- Proficiency in Internal Auditing trends and practices.
- Ability to work independently in planning, managing, and implementing audit projects.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software, and database management.
- Fluent in written and spoken English, with proficiency in Kiswahili.
- Legal right to work in Kenya.
