Key Responsibilities:

Project, Planning, and Implementation

  • Collaborate closely with department staff to gain hands-on experience in various areas for skill enhancement.
  • Drive timely execution of Integrated WASH & Health TP program activities within the AP.
  • Play a pivotal role in ensuring effective and quality implementation of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene projects.
  • Conduct engaging hygiene and sanitation promotion training sessions.
  • Apply established business processes, standards, and guidelines to execute Sanitation and Hygiene initiatives seamlessly.
  • Organize field visits for line ministries to inspect project progress and validate inspection reports, including quantified work completed.
  • Engage communities in identifying feasible Sanitation projects and foster their active involvement in implementation.
  • Integrate cross-cutting themes into S&H projects for comprehensive impact.
  • Lead CLTS interventions and facilitate declarations of ODF Villages.
  • Mobilize community contributions for project success.
  • Contribute to the development of technically sound funding proposals, offering crucial information and data for review by ADP Managers and other sector specialists.

Quality Assurance – Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation

  • Participate in joint supervision and monitoring of Water and Construction interventions, adhering rigorously to WV Kenya, government regulations, WHO, and SPHERE standards.
  • Take part in joint supervision and monitoring of Sanitation and Hygiene interventions, ensuring compliance with WV Kenya, government regulations, WHO, and SPHERE standards.
  • Contribute to Project Designs and Annual Operation Plans, including 4D matrices, DIPs, and Annual Budgets.
  • Generate high-quality monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, and project-end reports, aligning with donor and WV Kenya requirements.
  • Capture and share success stories and best practices from Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene projects within the ADP.
  • Facilitate participatory monthly data collection involving communities and partners, utilizing standardized tools.
  • Contextualize and follow reporting guidelines to ensure comprehensive and informative reporting.

Eligibility Criteria:

To apply for the graduate internship program, you must be a Kenyan citizen who meets the following criteria:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree and have been a beneficiary of child sponsorship or experienced WV’s community development impact at home (priority will be given).
  • Demonstrate a sincere desire and ability to serve underprivileged communities in rural and semi-urban areas of Kenya.
  • Embrace the Christian faith, irrespective of denomination, gender, or ethnic background.
  • Possess qualities of integrity, honesty, competence, and overall good physical and emotional well-being.
  • Be committed to dedicating your time to the project for the entire year.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health/Environmental Health or a related field completed within the past year.
