The RMNCAH (Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health) unit is at the forefront of developing innovative strategies that address critical health challenges in Africa. As an intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience in public health, policy research, and advocacy, while contributing to life-changing health solutions for millions.
Key Responsibilities
As an RMNCAH Intern, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the unit’s activities. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Research and Analysis
- Conduct in-depth research on RMNCAH, health systems strengthening, and service delivery models.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to generate evidence-based insights.
- Contribute to the creation of knowledge resources, such as reports and case studies.
2. Knowledge Generation
- Assist in drafting policy briefs, blogs, and articles tailored for diverse audiences.
- Help translate complex research findings into accessible formats for stakeholders.
3. Knowledge Management
- Support the collection, organization, and dissemination of strategic policy documents.
- Maintain and update knowledge-sharing platforms.
- Attend and contribute to internal strategy meetings.
4. Advocacy Support
- Assist in developing advocacy materials and communication strategies.
- Support the promotion of RMNCAH and Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) activities through various channels.
5. Collaboration
- Work with multidisciplinary teams across Amref to integrate diverse perspectives into RMNCAH projects.
- Contribute to joint initiatives within the Health Systems Strengthening Directorate.
6. Event Participation
- Participate in workshops, webinars, and conferences relevant to RMNCAH and health systems.
- Support the organization and facilitation of events as needed.
7. Support to HSS Directorate
- Assist in aligning strategies, providing technical assistance, and generating evidence for dissemination within the directorate.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Educational Background
- A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in public health, health policy, international development, or a related field is highly desirable.
Core Competencies
- Strong understanding of RMNCAH/SRHR, health systems strengthening, and global health issues in Africa.
- Exceptional research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize and communicate complex information effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant applications.
Personal Attributes
- Proactive, self-motivated, and adaptable to dynamic working environments.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in collaborative teamwork within diverse settings.
