Job Summary

The Intern – Private Sector Partnerships role at the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of urban development. This internship will be part of the Cities Investment Facility (CIF), a multi-stakeholder initiative designed to channel investment into urban projects, particularly in low and middle-income countries and secondary cities. As an intern, you will assist in the development of fund-raising strategies, identify key private sector stakeholders, and support partnership management. Key Responsibilities

As an Intern – Private Sector Partnerships, your responsibilities will include:

  • Fund-Raising Strategy Development: Assisting in the development of fund-raising strategies and products, including contribution agreements, to attract private sector investments.
  • Stakeholder Identification: Supporting the identification and mapping of key private sector stakeholders to foster partnerships.
  • Partnership Management: Assisting in the management of private sector partnerships, ensuring alignment with the objectives of the Cities Investment Facility.
  • Donor Engagement: Assisting in increasing donations through various channels, including direct mail, internet-based fund-raising, and lead generation.
  • Communication Support: Contributing to the development of concept notes, presentations, and donor reports to support fund-raising and communication activities.
  • Event Organization: Assisting in organizing high-profile events for donors and stakeholders to raise awareness and secure support for urban development projects.
  • Awareness Raising: Assisting in raising awareness among identified private sector partners regarding the Cities Investment Facility Feasibility Fund.

Qualifications and Skills

To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  1. Current Enrollment: Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  2. Final Academic Year: Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
  3. Recent Graduate: Have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s, Ph.D., or equivalent.

Technical Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Particularly Excel, PowerPoint, BI tools, and similar software.
  • Keen Interest in the Work of the United Nations: Demonstrated commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
  • Cultural Awareness: Ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
