Job Summary

We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a dynamic and motivated young professional to gain hands-on experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Knowledge Management, and Learning (ME&KML). This internship is designed for recent graduates who are eager to learn and contribute creative ideas to achieve ME&KML goals. As part of the Programs and Sponsorship department in our Nairobi office, you will provide technical support to implementing partners and country program teams, helping to standardize monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management, and learning practices according to industry standards and ChildFund Kenya systems.

Key Responsibilities

Support Partners in M&E Frameworks Development

  • Assist in developing or reviewing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, including data collection tools, indicator performance tracking templates, and data analysis plans.

Oversee Quality Implementation of M&E Activities

  • Ensure M&E activities at partner levels and projects meet ChildFund International standards.

Coordinate and Provide Training

  • Assist in coordinating and providing staff training on program monitoring and evaluation methods and tools.

Conduct Data Quality Assessments

  • Participate in routine data quality assessments across projects and provide feedback on strengths, weaknesses, and best practices.

Support Periodic Reviews and Reflections

  • Assist in conducting periodic reviews and reflections with implementing staff and communities.

Implement Knowledge Management Strategy

  • Support the implementation of the knowledge management strategy and learning and adaptation plan.

Ensure Data Quality

  • Maintain the quality of existing data sources and methods of data collection, including offline and online management information systems (CAMEL).

Documentation and Sharing

  • Collaborate with the country office and implementing partners in documentation, learning, and sharing.

Additional Duties

  • Perform any other duties related to MEL as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Economics, Knowledge Management, Statistics, International Development, Development Studies, Project Planning and Management from a recognized university, graduated within the last 1-2 years.
  • Technical Skills: Intermediate or advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint. Knowledge of mobile data collection applications such as CommCare, KOBO Collect, ODK, SurveyCTO. Practical knowledge of data analysis and visualization software such as Advanced Excel, SPSS, R, Stata. Basic or intermediate quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis skills.
  • Soft Skills: Organized, able to manage own time under guidance and direction from the line manager. Strong willingness and ability to learn and work under pressure with minimal supervision. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills. Strong written and verbal language skills in English and Swahili.
