Job Purpose
As the Finance Business Partner for Insurance & Asset Management at Standard Bank Group, your mission is to collaborate with the Head of Insurance and Asset Management in developing and executing a strategic financial management plan. You will establish robust financial systems and processes, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and driving operational efficiency. Your role also involves providing in-depth financial analysis and insights into product performance across Insurance and Asset Management.
Key Deliverables
Financial Management
- Analyze and interpret financial and accounting reports to provide valuable financial insights to the business.
- Collaborate with the Head of Insurance and Asset Management and key stakeholders to ensure financial preparation, reconciliation, and reporting align with financial reporting, compliance, and business requirements. Adhere to all accounting policies, processes, and procedures.
Strategy
- Develop and implement a Finance strategy in partnership with the business to achieve Insurance and Asset Management objectives.
- Prepare and analyze financial results, identifying areas for improvement by understanding the macro-economic landscape and its impact on Insurance and Asset Management. Highlight potential risks and opportunities.
Data
- Assist in the preparation of Insurance and Asset Management reports and documents for Leadership Councils on both Group and country-specific levels on a monthly basis.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables and reports in alignment with reporting cycles. Review budgetary planning and performance measurement controls to ensure effective reporting.
Risk, Regulatory, Prudential & Compliance
- Review budgetary planning and performance measurement controls to ensure timely completion within specific country regulatory and geographical compliance requirements.
- Oversee product structures and collaborate with product teams to provide financial analysis and insight. Develop new product structures and support the implementation of accounting initiatives.
Technology & Architecture
- Identify gaps in product automated mapping to enhance financial and MIS reporting capabilities. Work with GBM and core banking teams to initiate recommendations for improvement and manage their implementation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
- Type of Qualification: First Degree
- Field of Study: Finance and Accounting
Other Minimum Qualifications, Certifications, or Professional Memberships
- CPA (K) finalist or equivalent
Experience Required
- Product Management: 5 years
- Experience in advising business leaders on financial aspects and relevant stakeholders on decision-making processes and strategic objectives in a financial services environment.
- Financial Insights & Analytics: 5-7 years
- Experience in running income statements to identify problems with general ledger entries. Familiarity with financial controls and practices in a large corporate setting.
