Program: Capacity Development (CapDev)

Internship Overview

Internships at ILRI are designed to provide young professionals with practical experience in their field of study, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application. Typically lasting 3 months, and extendable up to 6 months, these internships are integral to the student’s academic curriculum and professional development. Interns work five days a week under the supervision and mentorship of experienced ILRI staff, contributing to meaningful projects and gaining valuable insights into livestock agriculture research.

Responsibilities

As an ILRI intern, you will:

  • Engage in Research Projects: Participate in cutting-edge research projects, assisting in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Experts: Work closely with ILRI scientists and experts, gaining mentorship and professional guidance.
  • Develop Practical Skills: Apply theoretical knowledge to practical tasks, enhancing your technical and analytical skills.
  • Contribute to Livestock Development: Support various programs aimed at improving livestock production and health in developing countries.

Requirements

To be eligible for an ILRI internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Enrollment: Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program with at least one full semester remaining. ILRI also welcomes applications from diploma and certificate program students, as well as senior high school students through strategic partnerships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office applications effectively.
  • Proficiency in English: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Terms of Appointment

ILRI offers a stipend to cover living expenses and provides insurance for the duration of the internship. This is a fantastic opportunity for young professionals to gain hands-on experience in an international research environment.
