About ILRI and CGIAR:

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is currently seeking a Monitoring and Performance Consultant for the CGIAR GENDER Impact Platform. CGIAR is a global partnership focused on research for a food-secure future, comprising 15 Research Centers dedicated to reducing rural poverty, improving food security, enhancing human health and nutrition, and ensuring sustainable management of natural resources. ILRI, as a CGIAR center, contributes to these goals by conducting research to promote efficient, safe, and sustainable use of livestock, aimed at improving food and nutritional security and reducing poverty in developing countries.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Monitoring and Performance Consultant, you will work under the guidance of the Platform’s Head of Programme Portfolio to establish and maintain a comprehensive database of output and outcome indicators for the GENDER Impact Platform. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  1. Developing a Monitoring and Evaluation Plan: Creating a comprehensive plan based on the Platform’s theory of change to guide the monitoring and evaluation activities effectively.
  2. Tracking Progress: Ensuring the effective use of Platform-level systems to monitor and track progress towards planned results.
  3. Data Management: Implementing mechanisms to maintain accurate and up-to-date program-level data through the One CGIAR online platform PRMS.
  4. Quality Assurance: Supporting the Platform’s inputs to the CGIAR Results Dashboard and ensuring quality assurance of the data.
  5. Donor Reporting: Assisting the GENDER Platform in meeting its planning and reporting commitments to donors.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  1. Master’s degree in economics, gender studies, human rights, social sciences, or another relevant field.
  2. Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience at national or international levels in monitoring and reporting, using Results-Based Management (RBM) principles, for development or research programs.
  3. Strong Understanding of RBM: Excellent knowledge of how RBM concepts can be applied in the research-for-development arena.
  4. Experience in Monitoring and Reporting: Demonstrated experience in designing and working with monitoring and reporting systems for complex, multi-faceted programs.
  5. Computer Proficiency: Excellent computer skills, including experience with MEL and project management software.
  6. Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
  7. Adaptability: Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with researchers across the globe.
  9. International Experience: Experience working in an international, multi-cultural environment.
  10. Language Proficiency: Fluency in written and spoken English.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates with the following qualifications and experience will be given preference:

  1. Gender Research: Ability to understand and communicate research on gender-related topics.
  2. CGIAR Experience: Familiarity with the CGIAR system.
  3. Regional Experience: Experience working or engaging with teams in Africa, Asia, and/or Latin America.

Consultancy Details:

  • Fee: Lumpsum or as mutually agreed upon, based on milestones and deliverables.
  • Location: The position will be home-based or based in Nairobi, Kenya.
  • Duration: 15th July 2023 to 31st December 2023 (6 months).
