Job Title: Human Resource Intern (Embu, Kenya)

We are looking for a Human Resource Intern to support our HR department in ensuring efficient and smooth HR processes. This position is based at our Rwika Branch, located along the Embu-Kiritiri Road, near Rwika Junction.

Job Summary

The Human Resource Intern will provide administrative support to the HR department by assisting with daily HR tasks and projects, contributing to the overall efficiency of HR operations. The ideal candidate will work closely with the HR team, ensuring that HR functions such as recruitment, employee engagement, and compliance with labor laws run smoothly.

This role is ideal for a recent graduate or someone looking to gain hands-on experience in Human Resource Management.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Administrative Support:
    • Assist with maintaining employee records and updating the HR database with essential details such as contracts, attendance, and performance reviews.
    • Answer employee queries, manage HR-related correspondence, and provide general administrative support to the department.
  2. Recruitment Support:
    • Post job openings on job boards and company platforms, ensuring that all listings follow SEO best practices to improve visibility.
    • Screen resumes and applications to identify qualified candidates, ensuring a smooth recruitment process.
    • Schedule interviews and coordinate between hiring managers and candidates.
  3. Onboarding and Orientation:
    • Assist in onboarding new employees by preparing necessary documentation, explaining company policies, and introducing them to the company’s culture.
    • Ensure that new hires are registered in the HR system and provided with the necessary resources for their roles.
  4. Employee Engagement:
    • Support the planning and execution of employee engagement activities, such as team-building events, workshops, and recognition programs.
    • Gather feedback from employees to improve workplace satisfaction and team morale.
  5. Compliance and Reporting:
    • Help update staff on company policies and ensure compliance with relevant labor laws and regulations.
    • Assist in preparing HR-related reports and presentations for management review.
  6. HR Projects:
    • Participate in various HR projects as assigned by the HR Officer, such as reviewing compensation strategies, updating job descriptions, and improving HR systems.

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resource Management from a recognized institution.
  • At least 6 months of attachment or internship experience in an HR-related role.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Required Skills:

  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with employees and management.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to team success.
  • Customer service skills, with a focus on providing a positive experience for employees and external candidates.
