As the Head of Procurement at Kayana Millers Limited, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the procurement and supply chain department. Your primary objective will be to ensure the efficient procurement of goods and services that align with the company’s strategic goals. This role requires a proactive leader with a strong understanding of procurement processes, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to drive cost-effective procurement strategies.


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Procurement Leadership

  • Develop and Implement Procurement Strategies: Create and execute procurement strategies that support the company’s operational and financial objectives.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure the best value and service for the company.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions, ensuring cost savings and value for the company.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions.

2. Operational Excellence

  • Oversee Procurement Processes: Manage the end-to-end procurement process, from sourcing to delivery, ensuring timely and efficient procurement of goods and services.
  • Inventory Management: Work closely with the operations team to ensure optimal inventory levels, minimizing stockouts and overstock situations.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements. Prepare regular reports on procurement performance and cost savings.

3. Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and Mentor the Procurement Team: Provide guidance and support to the procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Performance Management: Set clear performance objectives for the team and conduct regular performance reviews to ensure targets are met.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs within the team and organize relevant training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum of a Certificate in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or a related field. Accounting experience will be an added advantage.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a similar or related position within a medium-sized commercial organization.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in computerized accounting programs and strong computer skills are required.
