Job Description:
GardaWorld is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Procurement & Fleet for East Africa to join our team. This leadership role will play a crucial part in our Security Services Business Unit. As the Head of Procurement & Fleet – East Africa, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing procurement and fleet management processes in alignment with GardaWorld’s standards and strategies. Organization/Reporting Line:

• Reports to: Director, Procurement & Fleet-Africa
• Dotted line to MD, East Africa
• Direct Report: Country Procurement and Fleet Managers

Place of work/Travel:
This role is open to candidates across Africa and involves approximately 40% travel to various business units.

Contact and Cooperation:
You will collaborate internally and externally with Operations & Project Managers, GardaWorld Authorized Vendors/Suppliers, Senior Management Team, Internal and External Audit Teams, and Legal representatives.

Job Summary: As the Head of Procurement & Fleet-East Africa, you will provide subject matter expertise and leadership in procurement and fleet management for East Africa, following GardaWorld’s Standard Operating Instructions (SOIs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), strategies, and guidelines. Reporting to the Director, Procurement & Fleet-Africa and dotted line to MD, East Africa, you will ensure the transparent, compliant, and efficient execution of procurement and fleet management practices in East Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibility 1: Procurement Management

• Lead strategic planning of procurement activities to prevent costly delays.
• Ensure effective communication between Africa and Country leadership teams.
• Oversee compliance with GardaWorld’s SOIs, SOPs, and guidelines.
• Implement internal controls and maintain a client-oriented procurement management system.
• Monitor and lead strategic procurement activities, including tendering processes, evaluation, contracting, and risk assessment.
• Review and share monthly and quarterly procurement status reports.
• Ensure due diligence, risk assessment, and vendor monitoring are conducted effectively.

Responsibility 2: Fleet Management

• Establish systems, procedures, and controls for vehicle, motorcycle, and generator maintenance.
• Monitor maintenance schedules, fuel consumption, registration, and insurance.
• Maintain fleet management SOPs and ensure adherence.
• Provide fleet management expertise for project planning.
• Ensure timely completion of fleet management reports.
• Monitor equipment maintenance and care according to GardaWorld’s standards.
• Identify and evaluate new vehicle service providers and centers.

Responsibility 3: Staff Management

• Develop the Procurement & Fleet Management Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
• Monitor its implementation through regular performance appraisals.
• Provide leadership, guidance, coaching, mentoring, and identify training opportunities.
• Foster a positive work environment that encourages information sharing and collaboration.

Authority: As the Head of Procurement & Fleet – East Africa, you will have authority over East Africa procurement and Fleet Managers.

Competencies:

• High-level analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to develop and implement solutions independently.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: Degree in Business, Administration, or equivalent, and membership in a professional procurement body.
• Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar position.
