Job Summary

Dümmen Orange, a leading global breeder and propagator of flowers and plants, is seeking an experienced Head of Exports & Logistics to join our team in Embu, Kenya. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all logistics and export operations, ensuring the efficient transportation of products both domestically and internationally. This role offers the opportunity to grow within the company and eventually take on a senior management position.

As the Head of Exports & Logistics, you will manage end-to-end supply chain operations, including shipping, transportation, and compliance with local and international trade regulations. Key Responsibilities

Leadership Tasks

• Lead and define team responsibilities and workload distribution.
• Establish performance metrics to ensure high-performance standards.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Set both departmental and individual objectives, and evaluate them periodically.

Logistics and Transport Management

• Coordinate shipments and oversee all export processes.
• Optimize internal transportation systems to ensure smooth operations.
• Manage budgets related to logistics and address any issues promptly.

Cooling, Storage, and Packing

• Ensure proper cooling and storage of perishable goods.
• Implement and manage quality control measures to maintain product integrity.
• Oversee efficient inventory management systems to minimize waste.

Shipping and Communication

• Liaise with freight agents and the Dümmen Orange back-office team for seamless logistics coordination.
• Manage budgeting, procurement, and ensure cost-effective operations.
• Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams, ensuring transparency and efficiency.

Compliance and Regulatory Affairs

• Ensure compliance with local and international trade regulations, leading compliance efforts.
• Handle all documentation related to exports, verifying accuracy to prevent delays.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• 5-7 years of experience in logistics and export management, ideally in a similar role.
• Expertise in international shipping, customs procedures, and trade regulations.
• Proven experience in budget management and procurement.
• Demonstrated leadership in a cross-functional environment.
• Proficiency in logistics and supply chain management tools.
• Familiarity with cooling, storage, and packing procedures, particularly for perishable goods.
