Role Purpose Statement
Under the guidance of the Manager Ground Services, the Ground Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing station sales, achieving revenue targets, market share growth, and ensuring efficient operations of Jambojet’s airport and security services.

Key Responsibilities

Safety and Security

  • Implementation of Safety Standards: Ensure continuous adherence to safety and security standards during operations.
  • Station Management: Oversee aircraft turnaround activities and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and local procedures.
  • Emergency Response: Activate the station emergency response plan (SERP) in case of emergencies and conduct annual station ERP drills.
  • Crisis Management: Manage crises at the station and assume responsibility until relieved by the incident manager.

Operational Efficiency

  • Resource Deployment: Efficiently deploy Jambojet resources to meet passenger and operational requirements.
  • Public Relations: Promote the company’s image to enhance public relations, market visibility, and customer loyalty.
  • Audit Compliance: Take corrective action based on audit findings and risk assessment analysis.

Customer Service

  • High Standard Service: Deliver exceptional customer service that meets customer needs and expectations.
  • Problem Resolution: Handle issues such as delays, disruptions, excess baggage, or denied boarding, and implement the “Options” scheme as per guidelines.
  • Passenger Queries: Investigate and respond to passenger queries, complaints, and claims promptly.

Administrative Functions

  • Staff Management: Manage staff rostering, performance appraisals, and maintain staff discipline and efficiency.
  • Revenue Reconciliation: Reconcile revenue documents and ensure all requirements are completed before forwarding to Revenue Accounts.
  • Flight Handling Reports: Assist in completing flight handling and other reports as needed.

Operational Compliance

  • Flight Closure: Ensure timely closure and finalization of flights and adherence to medical clearance requirements.
  • Baggage Handling: Follow up on passenger bags and files, ensure timely baggage delivery, and adhere to hotel allocation guidelines for cost control.

Requirements

Technical Knowledge

  • Sales Strategies: Understanding of sales strategies, revenue management, and market share analysis.
  • Safety Protocols: Proficiency in ground services operations, safety protocols, and security procedures.

Management Skills

  • Leadership Abilities: Ability to manage and motivate teams effectively.
  • Performance Management: Expertise in coaching and career development.

Human Relations Skills

  • Stakeholder Relationships: Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, frequent flyers, and airport authorities.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Strong orientation towards customer service and conflict resolution.

Specialized Knowledge

  • Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with Navitaire, Skyport, and Skyspeed systems.
  • Regulatory Standards: Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Problem Solving

  • Safe Working Environment: Creating a safe and efficient working environment for staff and passengers.
  • Data Analysis: Analyzing data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Education: A minimum of a Diploma in Sales and Marketing or Travel & Tourism. A university degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in ground services or aviation sales of an IATA airline, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Certifications: Advanced courses in Passenger Services, Ground Operations, Load Control, and Baggage Services & Claims.
