About the Role

Job Level: Senior

As the Global Portfolio Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our Global Portfolio Directors in managing designated projects within our Maternal Newborn Health and Nutrition (MNHN) and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (AHN) portfolios. You will closely collaborate with our country teams and technical experts within the Global Technical Services (GTS) unit to ensure seamless coordination. Your responsibilities include overseeing project management, fostering strategic relationships, grant management, budget management, and contributing to resource mobilization efforts. The Global Portfolio Manager will work alongside a cross-functional team to ensure the successful delivery of projects while adhering to contractual obligations and organizational policies.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Portfolio Strategy: Contribute to portfolio strategy development, leveraging expertise and adapting to funding landscape.

2. Project Execution: Implement effective mechanisms for high-quality project execution in portfolios.

3. Data Management: Ensure timely availability of program data, maintain quality, and support informational materials creation.

4. Relationship Building: Foster strategic relationships at the project level to facilitate partnerships and engagements.

5. Communication: Establish regular communication channels between teams and NI portfolio leadership.

6. Planning & Budgeting: Collaborate with regional and country colleagues to create clear annual plans, budgets, and activity plans.

7. Reporting: Ensure timely completion of donor, technical, and financial reports to meet NI’s standards.

8. Progress Monitoring: Monitor project progress both programmatically and financially and take corrective action when necessary.

9. Budget Management: Manage the programmatic budget, including monitoring budget variance and reallocating funds for maximum impact.

10. Gender Inclusion: Integrate gender considerations throughout the project cycle, aligned with SGBA action plans.

11. Tools & Models: Develop and utilize standard models and tools for efficient grant management and knowledge sharing.

12. Representation: Represent projects within your portfolio at partner/consortium meetings and advocate for NI’s interests at coordination mechanisms/fora.

About You

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in public health/nutrition in Asia and Africa.
  • Proficiency in proposal writing, external representation, and donor stewardship.
  • Excellent English skills; advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Comfortable in matrixed teams and global settings.
  • French fluency is an added advantage.

Specific Skills Requirements:

  • Understanding of results-based management, performance measurement, and program monitoring.
  • Strong report writing and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Previous experience managing Global Affairs Canada contribution agreements.
  • Demonstrated project startup experience.
