Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Food and Beverage Assistant to join our team at Karen Country Club in Nairobi, Kenya. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to contribute to our renowned hospitality services. The successful candidate will ensure the highest standards of food and beverage quality, manage staff effectively, and coordinate events and revenue-generating activities.

Key Responsibilities

Food and Beverage Management

  • Ensure proper upkeep of food and beverage products and outlets.
  • Perform regular inspections of all food outlets to maintain cleanliness and high standards.
  • Oversee service and culinary presentations, ensuring consistency in quality across all venues.

Employee Management

  • Coach, motivate, and develop departmental staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Liaise with the Human Resource Department to conduct interviews and manage performance appraisals.
  • Address staff performance issues in collaboration with the F&B Manager and HR Department.
  • Ensure staff compliance with grooming standards, uniforms, and name tags.
  • Organize and oversee training programs for staff and supervisors.
  • Plan and manage staff schedules throughout the year to adhere to the leave policy.
  • Enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and health and safety guidelines.

Service Standards and Quality

  • Gather and analyze feedback from members and guests to propose service improvements.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels for daily operations.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to ensure timely and high-quality food delivery.
  • Maintain food and beverage inventories to ensure availability and quality.

Revenue Generation and Events Coordination

  • Coordinate internal and external conferences and events efficiently.
  • Review and manage banquet and function requirements to optimize service and sales.
  • Upsell Club services and facilities, including telemarketing to members.
  • Set and achieve Food & Beverage and events targets each quarter.
  • Ensure timely documentation and invoicing for accurate billing.

Qualifications and Skills

Academic Qualifications

Experience

  • 5-6 years of progressive experience in a similar role within a reputable establishment.
  • Experience with ERP systems is an advantage.

Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective people management abilities and a collaborative team player.
  • Ability to work with diverse staff levels, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
