Job Overview

The Fleet Officer Intern will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing our company’s fleet of vehicles. You will handle all queries related to our Motor Cycle and Vehicles raised in our fleet system, maintain records of maintenance for the vehicles and Motor Cycles, and ensure that safety standards for operating vehicles meet ENGIE’s standards as per our transport policy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintenance and Oversight:
Ensure vehicles or vessels are properly maintained in accordance with regulations, using knowledge of transportation regulations to ensure safe operation.

2. Organizing and Controlling:
Organize, control, and direct activities related to the fleet, including scheduling maintenance, repairs, and replacements as needed.

3. Budget Management:
Manage the budget for vehicle repairs, replacements, and other related expenses.

4. Driver/Vessel Operator Training:
Ensure drivers or vessel operators receive proper training to uphold safe operating standards.

5. Licensure and Registration:
Manage vehicle licensure and registration.

6. Efficient Routes and Schedules:
Establish efficient routes and transportation schedules for the fleet.

7. Monitoring and Reporting:
Monitor drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and safe driving practices, and provide reports to management on budgeting, maintenance, and fleet progress.

8. New Driver/Vessel Operator Recruitment:
Search for, hire, and train new drivers or vessel operators.

9. Cost Reduction and Efficiency Improvement:
Develop methods to decrease costs and improve overall fleet efficiency.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience in handling fleet operations management.
  • 5 years of driving experience (driving licence must be up to date).
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to think outside the box and quickly solve problems related to fleet operations.
  • Hardworking with a sense of responsibility.
  • Innovative thinking and the ability to find creative solutions.
  • Attention to detail to prevent issues and improve fleet performance.
  • Proficiency in GPS tracking systems.
  • Experience in Motor Mechanics is an added advantage.

Qualifications

  • Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Automotive Engineering.

Languages

  • English
  • Swahili

Technology Proficiency

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Fleet Operating Systems, and other Microsoft applications.
