Position: Fire Fighter Trainee

Location: Nairobi

Job Purpose As a Fire Fighter Trainee, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of passengers, airport users, and property by providing rescue and firefighting services.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

i. Fire-Fighting and Rescue

  • Conduct firefighting operations in response to aircraft emergencies and building fires.
  • Execute rescue services during aircraft crashes, focusing on saving lives and protecting property.

ii. Emergency Response

  • Follow protocols outlined in the airport services manual for prompt response to aircraft emergencies.

iii. Equipment Inspection and Maintenance

  • Inspect fire engines, appliances, and equipment regularly to ensure operational readiness.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks on firefighting equipment and appliances to keep them in optimal working condition.

iv. Safety Checks

  • Inspect runways, taxiways, and aprons for fuel spills and Foreign Object Debris (FOD), ensuring a clean and safe environment.

v. Site Assessment

  • Evaluate the airport boundary and topography for accessibility and safety.

vi. Vehicle Operation

  • Operate pumps and drive fire engines and vehicles as required.

vii. Fire Drills

  • Actively participate in fire drills to enhance preparedness.

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Grade C or equivalent.
  • Certificate in rescue and firefighting.
  • Candidates with Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification have an advantage.
  • Recent medical certificate confirming fitness for rigorous training.
  • Age limit: Not exceeding 26 years (Born after January 1997).

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication abilities.

  • Police Clearance Certificate from Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
  • Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) Clearance Certificate.
  • Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
  • Ethics & Anti-Corruption Authority (EACC) Clearance.
  • Approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) Report.
