Job Summary
We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all financial aspects of the business, ensuring financial accuracy, and supporting strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience in accounting and a strong understanding of financial processes, accounting principles, and tax regulations.
Your role will involve maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with both local tax laws and accounting standards. Proficiency in QuickBooks and strong analytical skills will be essential in helping optimize financial workflows and supporting data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management and Reporting
- Prepare and present financial statements and budget reports.
- Analyze income and expenditure accounts, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Oversee the creation and monitoring of budgets for various departments.
- Reconcile all financial operations and verify source documents such as invoices and expense vouchers.
- Manage accurate accounting records, including ledgers, journals, and individual accounts.
- Ensure the timely documentation of all financial transactions in the accounting system.
2. Tax Compliance and Regulations
- Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and implement adjustments as necessary to stay compliant.
- Ensure internal controls are in place to safeguard financial information.
3. Financial Analysis and Auditing
- Conduct financial audits and reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial information.
- Prepare and manage end-of-year financial records and assist with internal and external audits.
- Perform variance analysis for budgets and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of financial forecasts and projections.
4. Process Optimization and Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to optimize financial workflows.
- Stay up to date with accounting standards and best practices to improve the efficiency of financial operations.
5. Invoicing and Contract Management
- Oversee invoicing, payments, and maintain an up-to-date contract filing system.
- Ensure all transactions are supported by accurate source documentation and maintain financial files for easy retrieval.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely client invoicing and payment processing.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or financial roles.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- In-depth understanding of accounting principles, financial processes, and tax regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
- Proven experience in problem-solving and financial analysis.
Preferred
- Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CFA.
- Experience in the telecommunications industry or working with an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
- Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting tools.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements in Kenya, particularly related to telecommunications and internet services.
