Since 2011, The Tree of Life has been operating in Kenya, focusing on Child Protection, Education, and safeguarding of children. Our work spans across Juvenile Justice, Care Reform, Alternative Family Care, TVET, job inclusion for vulnerable youth, and improving education, Wash, nutrition, and health services in ASAL and informal settlements of Nairobi.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Financial Transactions Processing: Assist in processing financial transactions related to office and project expenditures. Maintain an effective filing system for financial transactions and project documents.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate records of financial transactions to monitor financial status of project activities. Ensure all accounting data are updated, reconciled, and fully supported.
  • Payment Verification: Review requests for payment to ensure data reconciliation with financial management system.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain payment vouchers, accounting logbooks, and supporting documents. Ensure accuracy of accounting entries and adequacy of supporting documents.
  • Payroll Support: Assist in generating payroll by-products (deductions) reports. Assist in submission of statutory deductions (NHIF, NSSF, PAYE, HELB etc.).
  • Procurement Assistance: Facilitate procurement requirements of the project office based on procurement policy guidelines.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparation of financial reports for all projects implemented in Kenya by Fondazione L’Albero della Vita.
  • Inventory Management: Support preparation and update of inventories.
  • Contract Preparation: Assist Finance Officer in preparation of contracts with suppliers, partners, and service providers.
  • Audit Participation: Participate in audit process by retrieving documents for audit requests and re-archiving of documents after audit.
  • Other Duties: Perform any other duty as required by the line manager commensurate with the post.

Level of Studies:

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance) or Economics or any equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.

Experience:

Previous exposure in a community development organization or non-governmental institution would be an asset.

Skills:

  • Good communication skills (both written and oral) in English.
  • Working knowledge of accounting software.
  • Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently or as part of a team.
