With a focus on economic and social empowerment, the organization collaborates with marginalized communities to combat poverty and vulnerability. HiH EA has successfully trained and supported over 354,858 members, of which 80% are women and 40% are youth, leading to the establishment of over 334,179 enterprises and the creation of over 452,272 jobs in Kenya.

Summary – Field Enumerator Job Description (Ref.No: HEA FE-01/2023)

The Field Enumerator plays a crucial role in collecting field data, ensuring the quality of data collected and its ultimate output. This position is part-time and involves various duties and responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Pre-Enumeration Duties

  • Attend enumerators’ training workshop.
  • Participate in field piloting & testing of data collection tools.
  • Receive enumeration materials and equipment from the principal investigator.
  • Develop an enumeration schedule/itinerary.

Enumeration Duties

  • Locate (or select) sample members/respondents.
  • Conduct interviews with respondents.
  • Collect data and record responses using the appropriate tools.
  • Review the collected data daily before uploading it to the server.
  • Comply with organization guidelines for data collection.
  • Participate in daily briefs to report on activities and receive updates/instructions from the Field supervisor.

Post-Enumeration Duties

  • Ensure that enumerator checking is complete.
  • Account for all questionnaires/guides and equipment.
  • Turn over all literature and materials used in the survey to the HiHEA Team.

Specifications

  • Highly organized individual, capable of handling multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in utilizing technology tools and quick to adapt to new technology.
  • Familiarity with Android-based tablets or Smartphones and mobile data collection applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team player.
  • Willingness to travel and use public transport, even for long distances.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and research skills.
  • Confidence and can-do attitude with the ability to advance projects with minimal supervision.
  • Qualitative data transcription skills are a plus but not mandatory.
  • A commitment to the Vision, Mission, and Values of Hand in Hand Eastern Africa.
