Anglican Development Services – Mt. Kenya East (ADS-Mt. Position Overview: Executive Director (ED)

Location: Kerugoya

About the Role

Reporting to the Board of Directors through the Chairman, the Executive Director (ED) will serve as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ADS-Mt. Kenya East. This role involves strategic leadership, program design and delivery, financial management, and administrative oversight. The ED will lead the management team, ensuring that ADS-Mt. Kenya East’s vision and mission are realized through effective strategy implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Implement strategies, plans, and procedures to achieve ADS-Mt. Kenya East’s vision and mission.
  • Program Management: Oversee program design and delivery, ensuring they respond to community needs and are based on sound methodologies like Theory of Change.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure qualitative deliverables, robust monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and compliance with guidelines.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage financial operations to meet organizational goals, including budget compliance and financial sustainability.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate relationships with donors, government bodies, financial institutions, and other key stakeholders.
  • Human Resources: Foster a positive work environment that attracts, retains, and motivates employees.
  • Resource Mobilization: Lead strategies to secure funding and resources necessary for organizational sustainability.
  • Advocacy Leadership: Drive the advocacy efforts of ADS-Mt. Kenya East in consultation with the Board.
  • Communication: Maintain open and timely communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Person Specifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in agro-business, agricultural economics, or social sciences. A master’s degree or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field is an added advantage.
  • Professional Qualifications: Senior leadership/management qualifications and certification in corporate governance.
  • Experience: At least five years of senior management experience in a large faith-based organization, NGO, or public benefit organization.
  • Professional Membership: Registered and in good standing with the relevant professional body.
  • Skills: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including Anglican Bishops, government officials, and donors.

Terms of Service and Remuneration

This appointment is for a five-year term, renewable once based on satisfactory performance. The organization offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
