Introduction

Responsibilities

As an Environmental Officer at NaMATA, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for a range of crucial duties and responsibilities, including:

1. Research Prioritization

  • Collaborate in identifying priority areas for environmental research within the Authority.

2. Data Collection and Reporting

  • Collect and analyze relevant data and information to inform decision-making.

3. Periodic Reporting

  • Prepare comprehensive reports on environmental issues within the division.

4. Environmental Integration

  • Participate in feasibility studies to ensure environmental considerations are integrated into public transportation projects.

5. Public Awareness

  • Assess public awareness of key environmental issues related to public transport.
  • Disseminate vital environmental information to the public.

6. Trends Forecasting

  • Predict transportation trends and their impact on environmental factors.

7. Sustainability Review

  • Review feasibility design reports for adherence to environmental sustainability goals in Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS).

8. Compliance Monitoring

  • Monitor environmental indicators and ensure compliance levels are met.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you should meet the following criteria:

Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Physical or Biological Sciences, Natural Resources Management, or equivalent from a recognized institution.

Be registered with a relevant professional body where applicable.

Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills.

Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Chapter Six (6) Requirements

Upon offer, successful applicants must fulfill Chapter Six requirements of the Kenyan Constitution. Obtain and submit valid clearance certificates from the following organizations:

a. Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) – Tax Compliance Certificate
b. Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
c. Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Certificate of Good Conduct)
d. Approved Credit Reference Bureau
