Job Summary

The Engineering Buyer plays a crucial role in managing inventories, maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records, and ensuring strong supplier relations. This role is integral in supporting the Engineering Department’s purchasing processes, negotiating contracts, and maintaining optimal stock levels.

Key Responsibilities

1. Managing Inventories: Maintain accurate purchase and pricing records to ensure efficient inventory management.
2. Supplier Relations: Foster good relationships with suppliers and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms.
3. Supplier Evaluation: Research, compare, and evaluate prospective suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
4. Stock Monitoring: Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed to maintain optimal inventory.
5. Interface Role: Act as an interface between suppliers and the Engineering Department, facilitating smooth purchasing processes.
6. Purchasing Goods and Services: Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
7. Price Negotiation: Negotiate prices and terms of business with suppliers, reviewing opportunities to make business savings.
8. Order Preparation: Prepare and raise purchasing orders and order schedules.

Qualifications and Skills

1. Educational Background:
   • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field or its equivalent.
   • Diploma in Purchasing & Supplies Management or CIPS professional qualification will be an added advantage.
2. Experience: At least 5 years of relevant working experience within a manufacturing setup.
3. Skills:
   • Strong negotiation skills and commercial understanding.
   • High levels of integrity and ethical standards.
