Position Overview: Driver (3 Positions) Job Level: Entry/Mid-Level

Reporting to: Deputy Programme Manager Reporting to Postholder: None Location: Kisumu/Kilifi Duration & Hours: Fixed term & full-time, renewable based on performance and availability of funds.

Purpose of the Role

As a crucial member of our team, you will be responsible for facilitating Farm Africa staff with their transportation needs for meetings, workshops, field visits, and running project errands. Your role will contribute directly to our mission of combating poverty in rural Africa through sustainable agriculture.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Safely and Responsibly Transporting Farm Africa Staff

  • Drive staff within the project’s designated operation Counties, adhering to the daily and weekly work schedules.
  • Conduct airport pick-ups and drop-offs for official staff and visitors.
  • Ensure the assigned vehicle is safe and well-equipped for travel, following all traffic and safety laws.

2. Management of the Assigned Farm Africa Vehicle

  • Maintain the vehicle logbook, complete weekly checks, and report defects promptly.
  • Perform day-to-day maintenance, coordinate minor repairs, and adhere to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Manage fuel card top-ups and request contingency funds for long journeys.

3. Assistance in Logistics

  • Facilitate postage of parcels and handle other errands as required.
  • Assist in banking, payment of cheques, and procurement tasks.
  • Contribute to workshop and meeting preparations.

4. Active Participation in Farm Africa Kenya Team

  • Communicate respectfully in line with the Farm Africa code of conduct.
  • Attend staff meetings and assist with reception cover if requested.
  • Embrace any other duties as assigned by your line manager.

Person Specification

Essential

  • KCSE certificate.
  • Certificate or diploma course.
  • Certificate of good conduct.
  • Clean driving license.
  • Minimum 3 years off-road driving experience, including 4WD.
  • Excellent knowledge of traffic laws, safety, and security protocols for drivers.
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.
