Job Responsibilities

As a Driver/Mechanic, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Daily Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct routine checks and maintenance on assigned vehicles to ensure they are in optimal working condition. This includes replacing fluids, lubricating parts, and performing minor repairs.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Keep all vehicle compliance documents up-to-date and ensure all vehicle accessories are in place at all times.
  • Transportation Duties: Safely drive vehicles to transport authorized goods, documents, and equipment as directed by your supervisor.
  • Incident Reporting: Report any vehicle defects, faults, incidents, or accidents to the transport supervisor or the director of operations immediately.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Ensure the vehicle is always properly equipped with necessary tools and safety equipment, such as spare tires, tool kits, jacks, wheel spanners, tow ropes, jump leads, belts, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Form 4 certificate (KCSE).
  • Licensing: Valid and applicable driver’s license (categories B, C, D, E).
  • Mechanic Training: Basic mechanic training is essential.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of relevant driving experience, with additional experience driving 10-wheeler trucks being advantageous.
  • Defensive Driving: Previous training in defensive driving and ensuring passenger security.
  • Personal Attributes: High moral integrity, initiative, and the ability to work long hours. Being a good team player is crucial.
