JOB TITLE: Driver – Maasai Mara
The Maa Trust (www.themaatrust.org) is a non-profit community trust in the Maasai Mara undertaking sustainable community development projects in partnership with wildlife conservancies. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Driver to be based in the Maasai Mara.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure the efficient facilitation of operations to various destinations as assigned, supporting The Maa Trust’s programs.
- Conduct thorough pre-journey inspections to ensure the mechanical soundness of the vehicle, prioritizing the safety of passengers.
- Maintain accurate daily/weekly records of the functional and mechanical status of the assigned vehicle, reporting any issues or faults promptly.
- Uphold cleanliness and safety standards for vehicles, ensuring a comfortable and secure environment for passengers.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on assigned vehicles as required, contributing to their longevity and optimal performance.
- Log mileage accurately in the vehicle’s logbook to track usage and support budgeting and reporting needs.
- Adhere strictly to The Maa Trust’s policies and all traffic laws and regulations, promoting safe and responsible driving practices at all times.
Qualifications:
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent.
- Mandatory possession of a valid D2 driving license.
- A minimum of 2 years of active driving experience with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of vehicle mechanics will be advantageous, supporting troubleshooting and minor repairs.
- Detailed geographical knowledge of Maasai Mara communities and conservation areas.
- Experience in driving a PSV (preferably a bus) is desirable.
- Extensive experience driving off-road with challenging road conditions, preferably land cruisers.
- Possession of a valid motorcycle license is an added advantage.
- Experience in motorbike riding, demonstrating proficiency and adherence to safety protocols.
- Fluent in Swahili, English, and Maa languages (spoken), facilitating effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
- Certificate of Good Conduct, demonstrating integrity and trustworthiness.
