The Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) is a corporate body established through an Act of Parliament, the “Supplies Practitioners Management Act (SPMA), 2007.” KISM’s mandate is to provide training, registration, and licensing for supplies practitioners and regulate their practice in Kenya. As the National body for Procurement and Supply Chain Professionals, KISM serves both the private and public sectors. The KISM Council is currently seeking to hire a proactive, knowledgeable, and performance-oriented individual to join the team as a Driver (Job Grade KISM 9). Reference: CEO/002/2023

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

Job Summary

The Driver will be responsible for providing secure and timely driving services to employees and other authorized stakeholders of the Institute. Additionally, the Driver will ensure the vehicles are well-maintained to ensure smooth mobility.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Driver will be responsible for the following:

  1. Authorized Driving: Safely drive motor vehicles as authorized.
  2. Routine Checks: Conduct routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tire pressure, etc.
  3. Malfunction Detection: Detect any malfunctioning of the vehicle’s systems.
  4. Work Ticket Maintenance: Maintain work tickets for assigned vehicles.
  5. Vehicle Security: Ensure the security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road.
  6. Passenger and Goods Safety: Oversee the safety of passengers and/or goods in the vehicle.
  7. Vehicle Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness of the motor vehicle.

Person Specifications

To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  1. Educational Qualifications: Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D (plain) or equivalent qualification. Proficiency in computer applications.
  2. Driving License: Valid driving license free from any current endorsements and valid for any of the classes of vehicles which the officer is required to drive.
  3. Occupational Trade Test: Passed Occupational Trade Test for Drivers Grade III from Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology or Ministry of Roads and Public Works.
  4. First-Aid Certificate: First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution.
  5. Certificate of Good Conduct: Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police Service (DCI).
  6. Leadership and Integrity: In addition to the professional qualifications, the successful candidate must meet the expectations of Chapter 6 on Leadership and Integrity.
