Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK) is a national faith-based organization of the Protestant Churches, health institutions, and programs from all counties of Kenya providing quality health care since 1946 through building health systems, partnerships, and community empowerment.

Position Overview:

Christian Health Association of Kenya is seeking to hire an experienced driver. This is a fixed-term 3-year contract (non-renewable) subject to availability of funds.

Job Title: Driver
Reports To: Procurement and Administration Officer
Location: Nairobi, Kenya – 90% field travel


Job Responsibilities

Maintain Defensive Driving

  • Operate assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner in line with CHAK’s policy.
  • Assist passengers, including those handicapped, in and out of the vehicle.
  • Read and interpret maps and driving directions to plan the most efficient route service.

Ensure Passenger Safety

  • Present safety briefing to passengers prior to each trip departure.
  • Observe all traffic rules and signs.

Vehicle Maintenance

  • Keep the assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, vehicle maintenance, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports, and other records.
  • Fuel assigned vehicle as well as undertake minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicle(s) as required/before travel.

Emergency Response

  • Respond to accidents or medical emergencies by notifying emergency response providers and carrying out First Aid pending arrival of emergency personnel.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Basic management course or any relevant field.
  • High School Certificate.
  • Clean Driver’s License.
  • Ability to drive a manual vehicle with over 5 years’ experience with clean records.
  • Proven experience of driving in most geographical regions in Kenya.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Report writing skills and ability to read maps.
  • Computer literacy.
