About the Role

As the Director of Powertrain at Roam, you hold the reins to shape the future of electric mobility tailored to African markets. Your mandate encompasses overseeing the design, development, and optimization of powertrain systems for our electric motorcycles, ensuring they excel in performance, delivery, efficiency, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Powertrain Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive powertrain strategy in alignment with our mission and objectives.
2. Team Leadership: Champion the recruitment and motivation of a high-performing team of engineers and technicians dedicated to powertrain system design, testing, and refinement.
3. Innovation: Foster innovation in powertrain technology, enhancing performance, range, and cost-effectiveness, all while maintaining impeccable quality.
4. Collaboration: Forge close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to seamlessly integrate powertrain components into our motorcycles.
5. Testing and Validation: Establish rigorous testing and validation protocols to ensure the reliability and safety of our powertrain systems.
6. Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of electric vehicle regulations and industry standards, ensuring our powertrains meet all necessary criteria.
7. Operational Support: Provide critical support across the company, from supplier management to addressing assembly line issues, to ensure we meet our powertrain-related targets.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven Track Record: Minimum 5 years of success in powertrain development, preferably within the automotive or electric vehicle industry.
• Leadership: Exceptional leadership and team management skills, demonstrated by experience in leading technical teams.
• Technical Expertise: Profound knowledge of electric powertrain systems, covering motors, batteries, controllers, and charging systems.
• Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with electric vehicle regulations and industry standards.
• Problem-Solving: Outstanding problem-solving abilities complemented by strong project management skills.
• Passion for Sustainability: A genuine passion for sustainability and electric mobility.
