Kenya Institute of Supplies Management

The Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM), a leading corporate body established through the Supplies Practitioners Management Act (SPMA) of 2007, is dedicated to providing training, registration, and licensing of supplies practitioners. We regulate their practice and play a crucial role as the National body for Procurement and Supply Chain Professionals in Kenya. We are now looking for a competent and results-driven individual to join our team as the Director of Capacity Development and Accreditation (Job Grade KISM2).

Directorate: Capacity Development and Accreditation

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

Job Summary:

The Director, Capacity Development and Accreditation, will oversee critical aspects of capacity development, continuous professional development (CPD), internship, and industrial relations, and accreditation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

A. Accreditation of Institutions

  • Foreign Qualifications: Assess qualifications of foreign persons.
  • Evaluation Tools: Develop evaluation tools for local and foreign supplies management programs.
  • Accreditation Tools: Create accreditation tools for supplies management programs.
  • Discipline Compilation: Compile all supplies management disciplines and their requirements.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Develop the monitoring and evaluation framework for accreditation.
  • Standards & Manuals: Establish accreditation standards and manuals.
  • Policy Guidelines: Develop policy guidelines for accreditation.

B. Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

  • Program Development: Design continuing professional development programs.
  • Basic CPD Issues: Address basic issues of CPD.
  • Annual Calendar: Develop an annual calendar of activities for the CPD program.
  • Coordination: Plan, arrange, and coordinate all activities for continuing professional and training development.

C. Internship & Industrial Placement

  • Curriculum Development: Create the curriculum for registration of supplies practitioners.
  • Professional Examinations: Oversee the development of tools for conducting professional examinations for registration purposes.
  • School Establishment: Oversee the requirements for establishing the school of supplies management and opportunities for learning, professional exposure, and skills acquisition.
  • Internship Tools: Develop tools for facilitating the internship program.

Person Specifications

To be eligible for this role, candidates must have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution:
    • Supply Chain Management and Logistics
    • Purchasing and Supplies Management
    • Procurement and Supplies Management
    • Procurement
    • Commerce (Supplies Management Option)
    • Business Administration (Supplies Management Option)
    • Administration
    • Finance
    • Human Resource
    • Law or Social Sciences
  • Master’s Degree: Master’s degree in any of the above disciplines or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: At least twelve (12) years relevant working experience, including five (5) years in a senior management role.
  • Leadership Course: Attended a leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
  • KISM Membership: A valid KISM Membership with a current practicing license.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in computer applications.
