About Digitalent

Digitalent is a strategic initiative by the ICT Authority under the Ministry of Information, Communications, and The Digital Economy (MICDE) aimed at bridging the gap between the ICT industry’s demands and the capabilities of the local workforce. This initiative is in line with the National ICT Master Plan, which emphasizes the importance of developing a critical mass of high-end ICT skills to create an ICT-ready workforce. Since its inception, the Digitalent program has benefited over 2,900 ICT graduates, contributing significantly to the development of Kenya’s ICT sector.

Programme Objective

The primary objective of the Digitalent Internship Program is to develop and prepare young ICT graduates for employment opportunities across various sectors, particularly in ICT. The program offers participants a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience, expand their knowledge base, receive mentorship, refine career goals, and build professional networks. The areas of specialization include:

  • Networks & Digital Infrastructure
  • Software Development & Information Architecture (IA)
  • Information Security
  • Data Analytics
  • Multimedia (ICT Graphics) & Digital Marketing

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Digitalent Internship Program 2024-25 Cohort IX, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  1. Academic Qualifications:
  • Applicants must have graduated with First Class or Upper Second-Class Honors (or the equivalent) from a recognized institution within the last two years (from January 2022).
  • If the applicant is awaiting graduation (until December 2024), they must provide a recommendation/reference letter from their university. The letter should be stamped and signed by the university, indicating that the applicant will be awarded First Class or Upper Second-Class Honors.
  1. Relevant Degree:
  • Recent graduates with a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in ICT or Engineering (including Electrical & Electronics, Telecommunication, Software, and Security) are eligible.
  • Graduates must demonstrate thorough knowledge in the following core areas of specialization:
      • Networks & Digital Infrastructure
      • Software Development & Information Architecture (IA)
      • Information Security
      • Data Analytics
      • Multimedia (ICT Graphics) & Digital Marketing
  1. Previous Internship Experience:
  • Applicants should not have previously participated in any other Internship Program in the Government.
  • Applicants should be unemployed.
  1. Willingness to Relocate:
  • Applicants must be willing and ready to be deployed in any government organization (MCDAs) within the 47 counties of Kenya.
  • The internship is full-time, with working hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  1. Diversity and Inclusion:
  • The Digitalent Internship Program encourages applications from females, persons with disabilities, and graduates from ASAL regions (Arid and Semi-Arid Lands).

Application Instructions

Applicants interested in the Digitalent Internship Program 2024-25 Cohort IX should adhere to the following application instructions:

  1. Online Application:
  • All applications MUST be completed and submitted online through the official Digitalent recruitment portal: recruitment.digitalent.go.ke.
  • No paper-based or email applications will be accepted.
  1. Accurate Information:
  • Applicants must submit accurate and truthful information. It is important to note that providing false or misleading information to the Digitalent Secretariat may result in legal consequences, including a fine not exceeding Kshs. 200,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or both.
  1. Required Documents:
  • Applicants must attach the following documents:
      • National ID card/Passport
      • Passport-size photo
      • KCSE certificate
      • Degree certificate
      • Receipt/Certificate of Good Conduct
  1. Submission Deadline:
  • Only applications that are completed and successfully submitted within the 21-day calendar period from the date of advertisement will be accepted.

Important Notes for Applicants

Foreign University Graduates:

  • Graduates with degrees from foreign universities must attach a verification certificate from the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA).
  • Certificates in languages other than English must include an English translation from the relevant embassy.

Degree Grade Equivalent:

  • Applicants from universities with GPA grading systems should attach documentation indicating the GPA equivalent to Kenya’s public university grading system (e.g., Second Class Honors Upper Division).

Pending Certificate Collection:

  • If the applicant has not yet collected their degree certificate, they should attach a signed and stamped recommendation/reference letter from the university. The letter should be from the Dean of Students and should indicate that the applicant will be awarded First Class or Upper Second-Class Honors.

The application deadline for the 2024-25 Digitalent Internship Program is September 16, 2024. Applicants have 18 days, 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 30 seconds remaining to submit their applications.
